Best apps to talk to a real person in India (2026)

Written by the LeanOn team — yes, LeanOn is on this list. Facts checked 2 November 2026 from each service’s own site or app-store listing.

If you want a real person to listen — not an AI and not a therapist — the main options in India are paid listener apps (LeanOn, Clarity, HEED, SayHey, HearMeOut, Lisners) and free volunteer or community apps (7 Cups, TalkLife). Cheapest per minute: HEED and Clarity. Free: 7 Cups volunteers and TalkLife. Video: Clarity. Choose your listener by lived experience, pick a woman listener, 18+ only, voice never recorded: LeanOn. None of these is therapy or a crisis service.

Questions

Which app is cheapest to talk to a real person in India?

By published per-minute price, HEED (₹3/min, its site says) and Clarity (mostly ₹8/min, its FAQ says) are among the lowest. 7 Cups volunteer chat and TalkLife are free but are volunteer or community support rather than a paid one-to-one listener. On LeanOn each listener sets their own rate; you see it before you start.

Are these apps therapy?

No. The listeners on these apps are not therapists. Some apps (HEED, 7 Cups) also sell sessions with licensed therapists separately. For a diagnosed condition or medication, see a licensed professional.

Which apps let me choose who I talk to?

LeanOn, Lisners and 7 Cups let you choose; Clarity and HEED show listener profiles. On LeanOn you can choose by experience, language and topic — including choosing a woman listener.

Which apps are 18+ only?

LeanOn is for adults only. Clarity’s policy also says 18+. Others allow teens (7 Cups has a 13–17 area; TalkLife is listed as 16+). If you are under 18 and need to talk, reach out to a trusted adult or call Tele-MANAS on 14416 (free).

What should I do in a crisis?

None of these apps is a crisis service. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call Tele-MANAS on 14416 or NIMHANS on 080-46110007 (free).
